Code of Practice

Introduction

This Code of Practice provides the basis for good practice in the marketing, operation, financing and administration of training and assessment services provided by Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing.

For the purpose of this Code, “Student” refers to any person participating in training delivered by this organisation. An “agent” is an organisation who enters into an agreement with Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing for the representation of international students. 


Provision of Training and Assessment Services

  1. Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing has policies and management practices which ensure high professional standards are maintained in the delivery and assessment services which safeguard the interest and welfare of its students and agents.
  2. Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing maintains a learning environment that is conducive to the success of all students.
  3. Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing has the capacity to deliver and assess Certificate II, Certificate III, and Certificate IV in Hairdressing and Diploma in Salon Management within its “scope of delivery”. The school provides suitable facilities and uses methods and materials appropriate to the learning and assessment needs of the students.
  4. Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing monitors and assesses the performance and progress of its students.
  5. Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing ensures that trainers are not only suitably qualified but are also sensitive to the learning needs of all students. It provides professional development for its trainers in the form of ongoing professional development activities provided by the organisation.
  6. Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing is committed to the principles of access and equity.

Assessment Policy

Taylorweir ensures all assessments are to the benchmark standard, consistent, fair and flexible, and conducted in a timely manner.


Issuance of Qualifications

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing will issue Qualifications and Statement of Attainments to students who meet the specified learning outcomes of the accredited National Training Package.

Authorised Signatories for Statement of Attainments are:

  • Anne Taylor - Chief Executive Officer
  • Elizabeth Maher - Managing Director

And in their absence:

  • Philippa Taylor - General Manager
  • Jenny Childs - Director of Training

A Statement of Attainment or Testamur and Record of Results will not be issued until all outstanding fees are finalised.


Marketing of Training and Assessment Services

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing has developed a Marketing and Advertising policy and will market their training products and services with integrity, accuracy and professionalism.


Financial Standards

All records of financial transactions are made available for audit by the Department of Education & Training and the Taxation Department. 

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing ensures that all financial transactions between an international student and the school comply with the regulations within the ESOS Act Amended 2012.

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing ensures the financial relationship between the agent and the school is properly recorded.


Provision of Information

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing provides accurate, relevant and up-to-date information for prospective students and agents, all students are provided with an Enrolment/ Support Document. Other relevant information is provided in this Code of Practice and the respective student hand books.

Recruitment of Students

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing is not involved in actively recruiting local apprentices. The school is advised by APPRENTICENTRE when an apprentice and employer have requested Taylorweir to provide the off the job training.

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing conducts all training in an ethical and responsible manner.

International students may access information on our website www.taylorweir.com.au or through Registered Agents.


Support Services

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing will provide adequate and appropriate support services in terms of learning materials and personal counselling/mentoring for students.  At all times the school will act in the role of mentor and students are encouraged to communicate with either their student coordinator or directly with the Director of Training should they require assistance.

In the event of a critical incident, the student will be referred to the Taylorweir Critical Incident Support Provider: Metro Counselling Services Ph. 9448 3210 


Recognition of Current Competencies and Recognition of Prior Learning

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing has a policy for transferring and mapping previously attained skills and knowledge via Recognition of Curent Competencies (RCC) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

This process is made available to students on enrolment.  

The process is detailed in the Student Hand Book for permanent residents of Australia, and for international students, in the International Student Hand Book.


Withdrawal and Refunds

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing has a refund policy for each of the courses listed in this document which is provided to the student on enrolment.


Grievance and Appeals Mechanism

Resident Student/Apprentice

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing provides direct access to the Directors of the school and encourages students and employers to direct all appeals or grievances resulting from written or verbal results to either of the Directors by contacting the Director of Training to arrange a suitable meeting.

Where a grievance cannot be resolved internally Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing would recommend the student or the employer to contact the APRENTICENTRE or the Retail and Personal Services Training Council

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing ensures that students and clients have access to a fair and equitable process for dealing with grievances.

Every effort is made by Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing to resolve student/client grievances in relation to training and assessment results.

International Student:

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing ensures that students and clients have access to a fair and equitable process for dealing with grievances.

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing provides direct access to the International Student Coordinator and Directors of the school and encourages students to direct all appeals or grievances resulting from written or verbal results to the International Student Coordinator. 

 Accessing the Complaints and Grievance process does not put the student’s enrolment at risk.

The decision of Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing management concerning the complaint and subsequent appeal outcomes will be advised to the student in writing as soon as possible following the meeting.

Every effort is made by Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing to resolve student grievances.

Where a grievance cannot be resolved internally Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing would recommend the student to contact an Independent Conciliator or the Overseas Student Ombudsman.

Record Keeping

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing keeps complete and accurate records of the attendance and progress of all students. A student may have access to personal records at all times. A Release Form must be signed by the student if information is required by a third party.  Students’ privacy is maintained at all time.


Quality Control

Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing seeks feedback from students and employers of their satisfaction with services provided and seek to improve its services in accordance with their expectations.  

The school has a continuous improvement policy for all areas of the school and implements version control processes for all documents.
