The student Salon Assistant will learn the required skills and knowledge attached to this qualification in a simulated salon environment that is conducive to the success of each student.
For international students with no prior experience in hairdressing, Certificate II in Salon Assistant is essential in preparing the student for Certificate III in Hairdressing.
Student Salon Assistants work side–by–side with Taylorweir’s apprentice students, engaging and assisting them, ensuring the practical component of their training is meaningful and realistic. The curriculum emphasis is on personal development and creating opportunities for a positive employment outcome. To aid in positive job seeking outcomes, students are mentored in personal grooming, salon etiquette and interview strategies.
“Work Placement” (experience) is initiated mid-way through the course. This experience provides the student Salon Assistant with an insight on how different salons operate and offers the student the opportunity to decide which genre of salon is suitable to their personality and career ambitions.
Hairdressers who have achieved the Certificate II in Salon Assistant qualification may undertake:

- SHB502016 Diploma in Salon Management
